There is no doubt that Sporades Islands are the most popular group of the Aegean’s islands for all boaters.
The golden sandy beaches, the crystal clear waters, the green slopes that descend to the sea and the numerous islets surrounding the main islands of the group - Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonnisos, Skyros - are the paradise for nautical holidays.
Skiathos is for many years the cosmopolitan tourist destination of Sporades as well as of the whole northern Aegean islands. The green slopes, the pines touching the sea, and the variable exotic and golden beaches are the main reasons that made Skiathos Island famous worldwide.
The entire island looks like a forest. Especially the south and the west side is a real paradise. Glittering sandy beaches, turquoise waters and tall pines descend to the edge of the beaches. Secure bays for overnight on board and taverns along the beach promise dreamy moments.
As the north wind was getting stronger, we were cruising from the port of Skopelos to Patitiri of Alonnisos Island. We covered quite quickly the 7 nm that were separating us and we were entering slowly in the port of the island, located in the south-western end.
At the eastern side of Alonnisos there is a group of small islands, the «deserted islands» as they are characteristically called, which together with Alonissos, constitute the National Marine Park of Sporades. It was founded in 1992 in order to protect the seal «Monachus Monachus».
