13.80 meters of Supreme Luxury and Exceptional Design! These are the main reasons why Omega 45 immediately stands out from the majority of mega-Ribs in its class.

Technohull Omega 45

Ιn fact, these two features combined with the innovative design of its hull which achieves remarkable performance make Omega 45 one of the most impressive and best rigid inflatable boats in the world.

Omega 45 was introduced in 2018 and constitutes the flagship of Technohull shipyard, capable of travelling long distances hosting with great convenience more than 15 people in luxurious and comfortable seats of its deck.

Applying the most innovative technologies at every stage of construction, Technohull has equipped Omega 45 with the finest materials of the market, paying great attention to each detail.

The result is a premium product that reflects a refined splendor and elegance that stem from its simplicity of construction, which you instantly pick up wherever you stand on its deck.

Maintaining the lines of a pure open and sport Rib that offers luxurious living both in its exterior and interior spaces, Omega 45 is a stylish superyacht tender which caters to demanding users without compromising on performance and build quality.

Technohull Omega 45

With a bow entry of 60 degrees and deadrise at the transom of 22 degrees, Omega 45 hull is characterized by the presence of two ventilated steps, the first of which stretches over 1.30 meters and is 4-6 cm higher than the front part of the hull, while the second one is 2.45 meters long and features three spray rails on each side, the width of which, from the lowest to the highest, varies from 5, 4 to 7 cm.

The chine starts at 25 centimetres in height at the bow area, while at the helm area it gets its maximum value of 40 centimetres, ensuring more litters of space and ultimately increasing the interior dimensions of the cabin and storage areas.

On Deck

Omega 45 can be described as a centre console mega-Rib with overnight capability for long vacations since its console unit is very big and provides two berths, spacious storage spaces and an individual bathroom.

Technohull Omega 45

Walking on the deck for a few minutes, you instantly receive the comfort and luxury that it offers, while the functionality is in high level due to its excellent design allowing luxurious living for several days on board.

One of the unique design features of Omega 45, which certainly impresses and makes it stand out from the competition, is the lined with beautifully finished teak gunwales that run, inside the tubes, from the hard nose until the stern. Having a variable width of 25 to 30 centimetres offers a comfortable passageway for our fore and aft movement while with a height of 63 centimetres in the helm area they provide a great feeling of security inside the Rib.

The exterior length of the cabin-console exceeds 3 meters while the port and starboard passageways, which are raised by 15 cm from the rest of the deck, allow the easy movement of passengers. The door of the cabin, which hosts a built-in double seat, is located on the front of the console. Descending the two wooden wide stairs, we were led to the central headroom which is 1.23 meters long and 50 cm wide allowing great freedom of movement, while it is high enough for even tall people to stand upright. Tapestries, wooden cabinets, portholes, wc, sink and toilet door are made of the highest quality materials that guarantee the luxurious living of the owner and his family

The two single berths located to the port and starboard of the headroom hide valuable storage spaces underneath, have dimensions of 1.87m x 0.72m and with the proper addition can be converted into a huge double berth measuring 1.87m x 2.00m.

At the end of the headroom is the door of the individual bathroom, which has dimensions of 1.75m x 1.40m x 0.65m, while the large mirrors opposite the door form "windows" of comfortable access to the electrical installation of the console.

Although Omega 45 is a walk-around Rib, the width of the console is particularly great, providing excellent protection from wind and spray while offering the necessary space for the installation of large-screen electronic displays.

The helm station is arranged in four levels. The tallest of them is a large flat surface that serves to temporarily placement of various objects. Directly below, at eye level when driving seated, there is the carbon-dashboard that hosts two large navigation devices and the engines’ smartcraft Vessel View, while there is free space to place the VHF and the radio-cd of the Rib.

The third level is a narrow flat surface that houses the compass, the bow-thruster control and three stainless cupholders.

At the lowest level there are centrally mounted the electronic controls of the engines. To their port are the steering wheel and the switches of the boat, while on their starboard a small glove box, for storing the necessary small items, which is surrounded by a stylish handle.

Further back, four individual seats with hydraulic suspension system, located in two rows, provide full lateral support and allow direct inspection of the instruments as well as unobstructed visibility to the bow either when driving leaning or sitting.

The console and helm seats are protected by the black-painted T-Top, the roof of which is made of plexiglass with dimensions of 2.70m x 1.55m constituting one of the most beautiful elements and strongest points of Omega 45.

Between the cabin console and the bow sundeck, a forward lounge area is formed, which has dimensions of 1.80m x 1.30m and can be quickly converted into a stylish dining area.
The bow sundeck, which is also covered with beautiful teak, has a length of 1.95m and a maximum width of 1.56m, making it an ideal spot for rest and sunbathing. The storage space underneath is enormous and can easy be converted into a second cabin with lateral tents.

At the front part of the sundeck there is a small hatch which gives easy access to the windlass. A few centimeters higher, a teak-lined wide hard nose is formed, which is very elegantly located between the tubes and gives a comfortable step to enter the Rib without any obstacles when boarding.

A triangular hatch gives access to the enormous space that hosts the anchor, which emerging from the stem, under the tubes, constituting this way a great example to be imitated both in terms of functionality and aesthetics.

In the rear cockpit, behind the highly elegant wet-bar which is fully equipped, a U-shape sofa is configured with a net width of 2 meters, capable to accommodate many people while easily can be transformed into a spacious sunbathing area or a large dining one.Further back, there are two very useful storage areas, absolutely necessary for stern equipment such as aft anchor, stern lines and whatever we need for immediate use in the area of the outdoor shower.

At Sea

The new Dynastream technology, applied by Technohull to all production hulls, is responsible for optimizing performance, which is truly remarkable and is quickly becoming apparent from the moment the Rib enters the planning phase.

Technohull Omega 45

On the day of our test, the south wind was bringing a fairly smooth swell to our forward quarter, the height of which was about one meter high.

On the transom of Omega 45 three 300hp Verado 4.6L V8 outboards were hung, the propshafts of which were spinning three 23-inch by 14.625-inch 4-blade Revolution propellers.
Even if this is the minimum horsepower that the company recommends for the particular Rib, we saw a top speed of 58 knots with the engines quickly overcoming the upper limit of their recommended rpm range, which shows that it is necessary to use longer pitch props leading us easily surpassing 60 knots.
That’s a really impressive figure if we consider that similar length Ribs are unable to reach 50 knots even with more horsepower on their transom.

Technohull Omega 45

Having the propellers running 1.40 meters away from the bottom of the transom, we were able to achieve the highest possible engines’ height, minimizing the exposure of their gearbox in the water, while the propellers are able to have better grip and thus maximize their performance.

With 250 litters of fuel and 5 people on board, Omega 45 was climbing over its own bow wave and got on plane at 2700 rpm with a speed of about 17 knots.

The time it needed to get out of the hole was less than 6 seconds, and the Rib accelerated from 0 to 20 knots in 7 seconds while reaching 30 knots in 11 seconds. These numbers are particularly satisfactory if we consider that the propellers were pushing about 6 tonnes of total load.

Analytical measurements can be found in the table below:

Perfomance data by  e-Ribbing pdf

The out of the hole response was excellent and we were running with 25 knots at 3500 rpm burning 3.44 litters per each nautical mile, while at 4000 rpm our speed reached 32 knots with a fuel consumption of about 3.75 litters per mile.
It was clear that at speeds less than 32 knots, Omega 45 feels like a crawl regardless of whether our course was downwind or upwind into waves of about one meter of height.

At 4500 rpm we got another 5 knots reaching 37, with the fuel consumption increasing only slightly by 0.15 litters per each mile, which, among other things, shows us the very good operation of the hull that helps the engines make their best and reach to the maximum of their performance.

Technohull Omega 45

I turned my bow into the waves and insisted on keeping the speed close to 40 knots for a long time. I wanted to see the Rib's behaviour at that speed and so I left the steering wheel at all staying as a mere observer.
The deep bow was passing lightly over the waves without "reading" the sea, and even when it dropped from a high altitude, it was softening our ride while the spray rails were keeping the spray low, maintaining the deck completely dry.

It quickly became clear that Omega 45 is capable to travel us at 40 knots of cruising speed for many hours and mostly restful and safe, even without the best weather conditions, which means we can travel long distances and get very fast to our destination.

Although I had the feeling that, in the area of 40 knots, we did not get the maximum lift of the propellers, the ride of the Rib was perfectly smooth with the hull holding an ideal angle which managed to maintain even in our short «take off».

At 6000 rpm our speed easily reached 58 knots while burning 4.9 litters per each nautical mile. Omega 45 hull was behaving with great stability at top speed and showed that it can handle much higher speeds.
The propellers, however, proved to be quite short for the specific loads and thus deprived us of feeling the adrenaline of the 60 + knots.

Technohull Omega 45

Observing the table of measurements, we see that the slip at 6000 rpm is at 5.4%, a figure that is absolutely indicative of a great boat’s set-up.

This in itself means that the particular boat-engines combination runs with its maximum performance, having in great balance three crucial factors: engines’ mounting height - propellers - loads that the particular Rib will usually carry.

It is also known that the people behind Technohull always cared to deliver each boat with the best possible set-up according to the use it was intended for its owner.

Technohull Omega 45

Returning to our base, it happened to be alone on board and so I had the opportunity to push the Rib for a while to its limits.
So, I left the engines’ control flirting with the gelcoat of the console and I was holding my bow at an angle of 45° to the swells. The hull was "flattening" each wave giving a feeling of great security inside the Rib and a solid feel on the water, while it was running with a great stability, but this is something that you might expect in such large displacement boats, which are, furthermore, capable of bridging the waves without any extra effort due to their long length.

However, what I really appreciated was the immediate directionality and the exceptional flexibility of Omega 45, which is not easy to meet in triple-engine Ribs, allowing me to make fast, tight and absolutely targeted turns so as to keep at all times the desired relation of the keel with the water, raising my adrenaline values to high levels.

...keep Ribbing!
