Joker Boat Clubman 35 is a high level flagship that exceeds ten meters in length. It is manufactured with high quality materials, while for its hull the «Vacuum Infusion» technique is applied, ensuring maximum durability reducing its weight at the same time.
Eventually, Joker Boat, one of the nautical industry leaders, produced a mega-rib with cabin approaching 11 meters. The Milan's boatyard has revealed its intention the last years to extend its range of models with a new, high-end line, and so the latest creation has surpassed all expectations.
The company produces the entire model - including the tubes - in its own boatyard, so that it can directly control the processes and, if necessary, make immediate improvements to the product.
The experience of Joker Boat and its wide range are also very important factors giving shine to this rib that can be converted according to specific customer requirements.
In fact, a rib of this level could be used not only for pleasure, but also as a tender for a big yacht, customized with colors and accessories that can make it suitable for a luxury mega yacht.
But lets’ return to the main role of this rib and let ourselves dream of vacation on board of Clubman 35.
The cabin looks like other similar ones and has five well-designed windows: a big one with oval shape on the upper bow area for the proper ventilation and lighting of the cabin, two big portholes on both the port and starboard sides (the last of which is necessary for the ventilation of the bathroom) and finally two windows on both sides of the front hull just beneath the tubes, facing the water.
In the entrance and on the left of the cabin, there is a storage cabinet, just opposite the bathroom’s door. The latter is decorated with beautiful and elegant accessories just like the whole cabin with oak wood appropriately treated.
The only thing that isn’t so good is the uncomfortable position of the cabin’s control panel automation system: at the moment is at the bottom of the bed, but if it will be placed at the entrance of the cabin its access can be easier.
The entire bow sundeck is covered with pillows that extend to the console, creating a comfortable backrest. In front, there is a spacious locker, inside of which the chain and windlass are hosted, which are revealed by the opening of a large hatch. The anchor gets out through a stainless steel «eye» while the relative part of the hull is protected by steel plates.
The windscreen is reinforced by lateral crossbars while its front area is perforated at the subwoofers that are part of a six-speaker system capable of withstanding a maximum power of 1.200 W. To have access to the sides of the deck there are wide and flat passageways, but the rest of the walking area is completely free of handles.
The driving position is sporty and elegant at the same time. The armrests are ergonomic in order to drive comfortably even seated. Between the seats there is another armrest with storage locker.
The dashboard offers a perfect view of all the instruments, but the controls are very exposed and so are in danger of being pushed accidentally. That’s why, we recommend you use the «only throttle» function when you are in standstill, so that an accidental action can result only in rpm increase without gear engagement.
A cruise liner must have an equipped kitchen and Clubman 35 respects this requirement too, offering the proper space for the required equipment.
The general layout of the cockpit is the strength of the deck. At the centre of the three sofas there is an electric table which when being in an intermediate position joins the seats and forms a large sundeck. Under the sofas there are the required storage spaces with plenty of room. The locker of the port side is ideal for the lifejackets and other equipment that must always be accessible, while the starboard one is used for the rib’s electrical installation.
Clubman 35 is also distinguished by the capacity of the tanks; the fuel tank contains 700 litters and the water’s one 170.
The swimming platform is accessible through a door on the port side of the sofa’s backrest.
At the stern there is also an additional bench equipped with a padlock, ideal for storing fenders, lines, and diving fins or glasses.
Next to that, there is another one smaller storage place that hosts the shower wand. On its inner walls there are two pockets, one of which for small objects.
All the cleats are also suitable for tying up with large diameter bowlines which every ten-meter-long boat must normally have.
As sitting behind the controls of Joker Boat Clubman 35, you have the feeling that you drive a much bigger boat mostly because of its remarkable stability.
The data we reported was measured during the test on Lake Maggiore in calm waters, but even during the sea test we realised that the hull has constantly great stability. This allows you to operate more comfortable with the power trim adjusting the ride attitude in relation with the speed.
With two 350 horsepower Mercury Verados on the transom, Clubman 35 gets on plane at 11 knots, maintaining the optimum visibility regardless the driving position.
From 20 to 30 knots the consumption is 0.43 miles / litter but in this range there is a light propeller’s ventilation, probably due to the flow of water underneath the bottom of the transom which is not always homogeneous. The proper trim adjustment minimizes this phenomenon, for the total elimination of which thorough technical analysis is required.
The distance between the engines and the pilot station minimizes the noise during navigation even at high ranges of speed. For example, close to the console the noise of 30-knots is only 76 dBA. The thrust beyond 4000 rpm is really impressive. It is clear that the great acceleration is due not only to the twin 350 Verados, but also to the hull’s design of Clubman 35.
In order to get the best performance, the driver's contribution is also needed. For example, at 5000 rpm, trimming out from 0 to 50%, you gain 500 rpm and 5 knots without the use of the throttle.
The fuel consumption is mostly related to trim adjustment and that’s why it’s important to adjust the trim getting the best performance.
The maximum cruising speed is 38 knots at 4800 rpm, but the excellent behaviour of the rib makes you to push the throttle more forward.
The ride through the waves is pleasant even when the hull gets in touch with the water causing sound impacts but annoying at all.
The deep hull and the high position of the tubes allow tight turns with high angles which must be controlled by the pilot handling the steering wheel and the throttle.
In the test, with only one person on board and almost 250 litters of fuel, with 19" propellers, the outboards reached the highest speed of 53.5 knots.
At full throttle, the noise remained below the comfortable limit of 85 dBA, but the fuel consumption increased 110 litters per hour, i.e. four times higher than 25 knots. That is a fact that should never be underestimated during long trips, both to keep the cost under control and of course not to run out of fuel.
In any case, Clubman 35 is a real flagship and deserves a proper position among the best ribs of its class.
